Since I have started to blog about my garden on Houston Grows and Blogger, it's been fun getting to know other bloggers, both here in Houston and around the country.
In May of 2010, the bloggers at Houston Grows had a meetup at the Houston Garden Center.
The Garden Center is like a beautiful green oasis in the center of Houston. I hate to admit it, but I haven't been there in years. That's a pity because it's in a lovely area and there are a lot of things to do there. But I just don't enjoy driving in Houston and any activity that involves driving in town goes way down on my "to do" list. On this occasion, I went with one of my new blogging friends, Ursula, and her neighbor, who kindly drove us there.
We had a great time. We chatted and swapped stories, and Brent Moon, aka "Bananaman" took us on a short tour of the Garden Center.
But the "Main Event" was the plant and seed swap.
Once again, I have an admission to make. Having a fairly new garden, I really didn't have anything to contribute to the Plant Swap. I needn't have worried though. My friend, Ursula, had more than enough to share and Carol's SUV was packed to the gills with plants, cuttings and seeds of all types.
The next day, all of the "passalongs" that I had got, mostly from Ursula's garden, sat on the patio waiting to be potted or planted in the ground!
I think I did pretty good, don't you?
