Our New House - Exterior Trim
OK, I'll admit, when I first saw the stone accent on the front of the house, I wasn't happy with it. Oh, I loved the stone, but I was not at all happy with the fact that the mortar used was very dark. They used the same mortar they used on the rest of the brickwork and to me, it was just way too visible on the front of the house.
I'm still not 100% about it, but it's growing on me. I stopped by today (May 18, 2008) and they had been doing some more exterior trim. The garage door and trim work had been painted in the color we had selected that first day in the sales office. And somehow, the whole effect is pleasing, even with the dark mortar in the stonework.
I had been going to complain about it, but I wasn't sure what they could do about it anyway. Now, the more I look at it, the more I think it will be fine the way it is.
The Hardie Plank siding on the back of the house, and on the chimney, also got painted in the same trim color.
